Trinidad Drilling Announces Changes to its Board of Directors

/NOT FOR DISTRIBUTION TO UNITED STATES NEWSWIRE SERVICES OR FOR DISSEMINATION IN THE UNITED STATES./

CALGARY, July 3, 2018 /CNW/ - Trinidad Drilling Ltd. (TSX: TDG) (Trinidad) today announced changes to its Board of Directors. Ken Stickland, previously Trinidad's lead director, has been appointed Chairman, and Michael (Mike) Heier, Trinidad's Chairman and founder, has resigned.

"Mike has been fundamental to Trinidad's growth and success over the Company's more than 20-year history," said Ken. "We will miss Mike's extensive experience, his enthusiastic leadership and his passion for the Company and the people within it. We would like to thank him for his many years of dedication, commitment and leadership."

Mike founded Trinidad in 1995 as a small, Saskatchewan-based drilling company, initially to fill a need he saw in the market for high-quality, high-performance rigs. Mike was Trinidad's Chief Executive Officer and a director from the Company's beginning through to 2008. During that time, he played an integral part in the expansion of the Company's fleet both through organic growth and acquisition. Mike was also key to the strategic decision to expand Trinidad's operations into the US; a decision that has shaped the Company and positioned it well for the future. In 2008, Mike stepped down as Chief Executive Officer and remained as the Chairman of the Board. Throughout his time at Trinidad, Mike has been a central figure in all the Company's strategic decisions, including international expansion, a focus on the use of new technology and by providing guidance through the many cycles that are inherent to the drilling industry.

Ken has been an independent director of Trinidad since 2004 and has been lead director since 2009. Ken has extensive experience in the energy sector at both the senior executive and board levels. Prior to February 1, 2014, he was employed for 13 years by TransAlta Corporation, one of Canada's largest non-regulated power generation and wholesale marketing companies. At TransAlta, he held the position of Chief Business Development Officer and prior to that was the Chief Legal Officer. Ken also serves as the Chair of the board of directors of Whitecap Resources Inc., an exploration and production company.

Trinidad continues to diligently pursue its previously announced strategic review process.
